Prep — Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 8, 2026
The short version
Prep collects nothing about you. Your recipe photos are read entirely on your iPhone and are never uploaded, stored, or shared. No accounts, no servers, no analytics, no ads.
How your photos are used
When you snap or choose a recipe photo, Prep reads the text in it using Apple's on-device Vision framework, then turns that text into a shopping list using Apple Intelligence — both running locally on your iPhone, offline. Only the text read from the photo is used to build your list; the photo itself is never sent anywhere. The image is held in memory just long enough to process, then discarded. Prep does not save, upload, or keep your photos.
What Prep stores
Prep saves your shopping lists — list names, item names and quantities, and check marks — as text on your device only. Nothing is stored in iCloud or on any server.
Permissions
Camera — to photograph a recipe so Prep can turn it into a list. Photos — to read a photo you pick for the same purpose; Prep only reads the one photo you choose and never modifies your library.
No third parties
Prep has no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or attribution tools, and no third-party code. It makes no network requests at all, so your information has nowhere to go.
Sharing
If you tap Share, Prep hands your list — as plain text — to the standard iOS share sheet, and you choose where it goes. Prep never shares your photos and never sends anything on its own.
No accounts
Prep has no sign-in and never asks for your name, email, or any identifier.
Children
Because Prep collects no data at all, it collects no data from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
